Sources & Data Status

Every quantity and price figure in EventCalc traces back to a named publication. Sources are separated into portion guides, recipe sources, unit conversions and market price references — each with its own verification date.

What the terms mean

Source verified
EventCalc has checked the link and the figures; the date is shown with the source.
EventCalc assumption
A value no source states — such as a child figure where the source covers adults only. Always labelled as an assumption, never as a recommendation from the source.
Market reference
A user-reported price for one specific product in one specific pack size. Not a nationwide or guaranteed price.
Custom price
A price you enter yourself. It always takes precedence over the market reference.
Source pending
No verifiable publication exists for this value. EventCalc says so rather than inventing a source.

Portion guide values

Answer the question "how much per person?". Where a source gives a range, it is stored unchanged; the value EventCalc picks from it is shown separately.

Recipe sources

Provide the ingredient list and serving count of one specific dish. They say nothing about how much of it a person eats — that is a separate question with its own source.

Conversions & standards

Back conversions such as spoon measures to grams, or the ratio of dry to cooked pasta. They belong to no single dish.

Market price references

User-reported prices for one specific product in one specific pack size. They are not nationwide guaranteed prices — they vary by location and date.

The rules built on this data — selecting from source ranges, shared demand pools, package rounding and how missing prices are handled — are described on the methodology page.

Publisher names and original source titles stay in their original language — a translated title would be a claim the publication never made.
